It is not a lie that the passion for reading amongst the youths of the 21st century is dying. Statistics have it that an average youth will live, grow old and die without reading a book from start to finish.
Sincerely, books are the compasses and telescopes and sextants and charts which other men have prepared to help us navigate the dangerous seas of human life. Many peoples’ lives have been transformed, and their individual potentials have been greatly maximized through the reading of books. However, the passion for tapping into the innumerable benefits hidden in books is dying amongst the youths of the 21st century.
Having realized the danger that this poses to the future sustenance of the world, our country and her citizenry, Readers Are Leaders NGN was birthed on the 2nd of June 2014 as a Non Governmental Organization driven with the sole objective to rejuvenate the dying passion for reading amongst the youths, inspire critical thinking, ignite imagination and strengthen our communities by raising an army of enlightened servant-hood-leaders through participatory reading.
Our objective cut across five fundamental pillars:
- Team-spirit and
To help youths rediscover a plethora of dividends from reading through our diverse initiatives and platforms.
To inspire critical thinking, ignite imagination, and bring to the consciousness of the youths that it is in their hands to make of our world a better one for all.
To identify talents, encourage intellectual development, and engage the youths in programs that will harness their individual abilities towards becoming creators of employment and change agents of the society.
One is too small a number to achieve greatness and as such it is laid on us to foster the spirit of togetherness, friendship, helping hand and cooperation among the youths towards the accomplishment of their individual ideas, potentials and projects..
We amplify, exemplify, and instill core servant-hood leadership values in the minds of the youths through our seminars, conferences, training, and initiatives so as to raise a new generation of leaders who will champion programs of social uplift, become molders of consensus, and that would be the change they want to see in the society.
All things being equal, it is our goal that by the end of 2025, this organization should have touched the lives of ten million youths, produced a new generation of servant-hood leaders who would love serving more than being served, empowering more than retaining power, giving authority more than taking authority and producing leaders more than maintaining followers and lastly, we would have created a society that reads and a large army of entrepreneurs, philanthropists, job creators and people who will champion programs of social uplift for the good of mankind.
If you are already on board with Readers Are Leaders NGN, we appreciate your presence and we wholeheartedly encourage you to impact your world positively wherever you find yourself.
